Hindu cats are infidels 🐱

No really See They say cats have nine lives This means When two cats have a Hindu wedding They only vow to be together for the next 7 This means Their last two lives they move on with other cats A wise man would argue that this is not infidelity Because technically the commitment was for 7 lives not 9 And that technically also the commitment is for 7 human lives not cat lives The romantic man would say rewrite the vows to make it 9 Sorry I mean romantic cat It's to be said that a commitment of 7 lives is finite If a Hindu marriage is so sanct, why impose a limited period in the first place A wise man would argue that there is no life after 7 lives and that's why the commitment is finite Another wise man would say 1 life is enough and finite or infinite, commitment has to be towards something known. It is unknown what lies after this life is ended. But that wise man is not Hindu so it doesn't matter what he thinks

Express Notes Expressly Expressing About Expression

^ Definitely not expressionless I have great love for the English language. And I think that's because I can express myself very fluidly thanks to it. It's familiar territory. It's the language I think in. I know Hindi and Sindhi but I only speak them when I have to, for the ease of communication. I love learning new English words and l love listening to great orations and reading well written pieces of content; be it poems, stories or anything else. As far as I understand it, more Indians today speak the language better than most people from natively English speaking countries. Knowledge of the English language has propelled the country to where it is now in the global economy. It's changed perspective of how the rest of the world sees us. It has, no doubt, created aspiration and ambition in the minds of India's youth to lead better lives. A school going kid does feel a sense of empowerment knowing that his horizons are broadened. And that's really amazing. ...

I Really Lost My Mind This Diwali

Last week, I was rudely awakened at 6 am. I virtually spewed in the dark jabbing my stubby fingers all over the touch keypad of my phone shortly after : Is there nobody in this entire city who is accountable for this nuisance? Not a single officer who is promised a fancy promotion to ensure noise levels stay under a certain number of decibels? Not a single constable whose job it is go check year on year, the death toll of the animals, the deaf cases, the accidents caused during this Wonderful festival of lights? What is the purpose of this? Which God is being appeased? Is this not terrorism? How is this forgivable? When did the Festival of Lights become a Festival of Noise? Why does it have to noisy to be fun? What kind of person or groups of people take pleasure in this? Is he a sadist, is he someone who is only partaking in this because it is "cool" or "fun"? Is there a lack of entertainment options for these people in a city of Mumbai? What will it take...

The Water Crisis Is Real And I Happen To Give A Solid Fuck About It

The situation is dire. India is just too ill-equipped in preparation of the impending water crisis. I want to significantly increase the catchment of freshwater resources with the aid of sustainable and modern water harvesting techniques. Artificial lakes should be made. Look at Dubai with her fake beaches. Powai lake is a living example of one. Why can't we identify more such properties and do it? Why can't each building, each open space have a big-ass tanky on the top? It's always worth considering observing sensible governance adopted by countries who have been taking the lack of water as a resource seriously. Australia is a remarkable example. What I love about them is that they charge everybody for water. The concept of having to pay for water in your monthly maintenance bill in the urban areas is something that could help control wastage. The miser in each one of us will probably be far more conscious about water being wasted if we are made to explicitly pay for...

B&W

Black indicates depth while white assumes a paper like quality and thus in comparison falls flat in our imaginations. This is because we associate black with darkness and darkness incites fear of the unknown. Fear of lurking danger and unending creepiness. The presence of black holes in the universe is supportive to the theory of black having depth. Imagining a white hole is made difficult because of this. Although if you really think about it, white could have just as much depth if not more and could induce a lot of fear. White is blank. In a white world there would not be chaos at all. But instead a deepening sense of complete and utter deathlike silence that doesn't echo because there's nothing for it to bounce off on. Complete quiet that would cause a drastic opposite of the feeling of being peaceful. And then you have grey areas that connect the two on a whole new level. Grey would be too dull. I couldn't live in such a dismal world. I'd rather live in a fruit. Lik...

Everyone has a right to live. Should there also be a right to die?

The question cannot be answered directly with a yes or no as it is subjective to different cases. However, we can proceed to discuss it. To begin with, let us understand the concept of mercy killing or euthanasia. Derived from the Greek word "euthanatos", it stands for "good death"; which refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. The term can be further classified into voluntary or involuntary euthanasia based on the consent of the person. Further, active euthanasia refers to death with legal injection and passive which means withdrawal of life support systems. Let's now look at the history of mercy killing. In 1997, the state of Oregon (US), passed the "Death with Dignity" Act allowing patients to inject lethal injections themselves. And, in 2002 the Dutch Parliament became the first country to legalize euthanasia. However, euthanasia is still practised in countries depending on the circumstances leading to the request. In Columb...

Patriotism (A meek & feeble attempt at some sensational journalism)

In view of the recent applause-worthy display of greatness on the part of our Indian athletes in the CWG, I was propelled to think about and question my own patriotism. In a country where Sachin Tendulkar assumes the place of a demi-god it is clear how proud we are of our country's successes. However, this pride is wholly based on patriotism. What is patriotism? It means "great love for one's country". That definition makes me wonder where this love comes from. I think that patriotism is just a scam. It wouldn't come naturally to you. The same way we feel good about ourselves when we achieve success, is how we are induced to feel when our country does. Thus we strive to do things(or do we even bother?); win laurels for our nation. In the bargain, the government earns some goodwill but more importantly its ego of feeling like it's the best is massively appeased. That explains why, in our schooling days itself we are influenced to feel patriotism every time we s...

Bollywood!

Today lounging at home with relatives, watching some lame-ass MTV, the topic of Bollywood came up. We didn't discuss it at length, however. Then later my mom started watching "Kites" on TV, and that got me thinking all the more. Bollywood. Um. I think I should give an introduction to all you readers (I wish! sadly no one reads my blog!!), to this great word. It's the "Hindi Film Industry" of, guess guess, INDIA. I can't believe my blog's reduced to a platform for me to mindlessly rant about wasted firangs. (more about the 'firangs' thing later.) SO yeah, Bollywood. I'm really not making this any interesting for you'll I know. Let's see. Wow I thought I was in the blogging mood only a SECOND ago. Ah whatever. Straight to the 'firang's thing' alright. I was half-watching Kites when I saw one Barbara Mori on screen rambling in fluent Spanish. After 10 minutes of watching my mind drew a blank, and went WTF! she can't e...

My Rant On World Peace

So yesterday I watched "A Mighty Heart" on Star Movies. And to my own surprise , I was left so shaken, that I started writing this in the middle of the night. The Rant Peace and love is the most sought after thing in the world. It's so sad, we're not even trying. And even if we are, we are not trying enough, like children, we are resorting to force to get what we want, even if its bad. And evil is outnumbering the good, or perhaps the good is not putting forward a good enough fight. If we as humans are fighting among ourselves, then what are we fighting for? And how long will we be having these wars? Until a large enough number of people come forward and make it clear, make the point that it's so pointless, and instead of signing fancy treaties and pacts that are revised all the time, we should just not fight. I mean, we are so cruel to one other, BEHEADING! KILLING! BOMBS, WHAT NOT! How long will we kill, in the name of God, in the name of peace, patriotism, reli...
