Music that Gets me Every Single Time

This was originally going to be a playlist idea of all the songs that really hit me right in the feels but I started writing them down and now I'm too lazy to make it an actual playlist. And it was originally going to be 10 songs but of course it's 30 now. It's too late for me to bother linking these but I'll probably make a playlist someday. I also thought it would be a nice idea to elaborate why each song gets me every time but then it's too much effort to articulate how each song makes me feel and I think by doing that, it may dilute how pure it is currently. Music is so much more than we give it credit for. Without further ado, here is the list of my top 30 ultimate favourites that make me feel the most feelings that I could think of in the past 30 minutes. "Miss You" by Foster the People "The Beach" by The Neighbourhood "Instant Crush" by Daft Punk "Passionfruit" by Drake "There is a Light that Never goes out...

My Top 16 Fave Beauty Products

This is unlikely of me to do, but I thought of putting together all my favourite skincare products of all time. While I'm not big on makeup, I love me some indulgent bath and body products. That said, I can't say no to a nice eyeliner and I love a good lip balm. Growing up, my father would take a lot of international business trips and he got into the habit of bringing me nice bath products every time. I got so used to it, that every time he'd come home, regardless of how post bedtime it was, I'd rush to open his bag and find the goodies myself. He still remembers my love for that kind of stuff and the last time I saw him, he got me two giant bottles of Pantene and Sunsilk shampoo. Not exactly what I was looking for, but it's the thought that counts! This is the stuff that I'm truly shaukeen about and the kind of stuff I imagine I'll always want to splurge on. I'm not one for material things, but this stuff is right up my alley! After all, pampering y...

Sunday Selfing

How well each day turns out is pretty much equal to which version of you decided to play frontwoman that morning. Today, being a Sunday, seems to have allowed my inner disciplinarian to show up. Of course, she does show up unannounced, but my other alter ego - insufferably spoilt child-adult is always armoured and ready to beat her down to a pulp. I wonder a lot about self-love and I know now, probably always have known, that self-love is almost entirely dependent on self-discipline. It's crazy how much leeway you can give yourself in the name of being lazy, or tired, or lazy because of being tired, or worse: both. I initially opened up my laptop to binge House of Cards but then somehow landed on here, writing about what I'm feeling, rather than doing what I seem to do every Sunday anyway. I am guilty. I am guilty of letting my life pass me by and it's because I am Brutus-ing. I am torn between doing something and doing nothing about my problems. I am slowly inching ...

List Series: Things That Piss Me Off About Relationships

1. How narrow minded separating parents behave; they become so insecure, act immature and so full of hate and are shameless enough to advocate hate and want sides to be picked by their innocent children. 2. People's attitudes towards having children. They feel like it's their right to procreate and that at some point you have to "settle down" which unfortunately translates to reproduction. And their anti-adoption outlook, the whole you-can't-love-another-as-much-as-you-can-love-your-own bullshit. It's so ironic then that adoptive parents are more proactive about parenthood. And since when have we become so self-and-what-is-created-out-of-our-nether-regions centred? 9 times out of 10 you love hardest and deepest those things you can never hope to aspire to and that can never be truly yours, and the reason for this kind of love being that powerful is just that - because they're not yours. It's so annoying to see a young, heavily daft, physically beaut...

List Series : Why Life Back Home Is Awesome

Image
This list series is officially something that will be indefinitely ongoing as and when the inspiration or idea strikes. I should probably sort this blog into sections to make for organised viewing for the informed reader; sections like poems, stories, rants, travel posts, 'philosophical' posts, quotes, and other non classifiable miscellaneous shit like this . Maybe I'll do it later since I am jobless enough and I already have a hard copy of all my writing already organized that way so it should be easy enough. I've been away from home and all that I knew and was so familiar with, and so took so easily for granted, for 70 days and I've been realising some of these things, some little, some pretty big ever since I got back home a week ago. Anyway, let's start! 1. MY MOTHER! And her face, and her smile, and her eyes, and her cute walk, and her sweet voice, and everything about her! 2. THIS! I was so happy to see my pillows and my comforter and I've be...

List Series: 10 Surefire Ways To Be Happy

1. Ignorance is bliss, it really is. Ignore everything that negatively affects your life. Understand that you can't neglect things, that's not going to sit well with your conscience, you shouldn't be rude. But you don't need to put up with anything you don't absolutely have to. And if you feel like you can't escape from it, you can, you just need to look for help, help's always available, don't be anyone's victim, which leads me to point 2. 2. Put yourself first. Never make anybody else's happiness your priority. You're only responsible for how you feel. It's the only thing that matters at the end of the day. In the same way, you can't depend on anyone for your happiness. No one should have that power. 3. Keep it simple. The simplest people are the happiest. Stay away from drama, and don't be so self important that things affect you more than it's normal or intended to. Don't be overinvolved, don't give or receive m...

List Series : 5 Annoying Things I Do Without Meaning To

Let's get straight to it then! 1. Telling myself things I know aren't true / Deciding to not do things I know I will do / Being foolish when I know I shouldn't have to. I am totally using this as a song idea for my next Coursera songwriting assignment! If it can rhyme, why not make it a song that's sublime? :D 2. Starting to read a book by dividing number of all the pages by the number of days I want to finish it in and then not following through with the plan. I'll go to bed at 11 pm thinking I have my quota of 56 pages to read for the day and somehow doze off on the 8th page only to find myself awake again, online on my phone or on one of those unending YouTube sprees that end only when your eyeballs start to feel like they've got paper cuts and despite you, you're off to sleep. 3. You know when you have a little product left in your bathroom in that bottle, shampoo, shower gel, oil, whatever, on a Saturday and you decide you'll finish it o...

List Series: 6 Stupid Phrases That Make No Sense (To Me)

Idk why, tonight my mind is abuzz with ideas ever since I randomly wrote the first list in this series. Forgive me if the quality of these lists grow increasingly humourless and nonsensical. Wait why am I apologizing to a mostly known audience, you guys are used to nonsensical shit on here, why else are you even here otherwise?! Anyway, let's get on with it. 1. "Beg to differ." Okay this one is stupid really. Nowadays if you differ, you just agree to disagree. Why will you be kind enough to beg? It's so jargon-ish. Not a lot of people use it anyway anymore unless they have to do some unavoidable ass licking to get what they want or they're old and that's how they're used to speaking, or they're really mild mannered (pussies). 2. "Beat around the bush." That's what she said, right! :P How does beating around the bush in ANY way imply not getting to the point? I know there's history to this one so don't go telling me it's...

List Series : 5 Things That Really Piss Me Off

Since I feel like I've got Writer's Block (idk how real that is btw), I've decided for a while I am going to do a few lists on this vastly under-appreciated (yes, there I said it) blog. 1. Stupid Indian TV serials where the marriage between 2 people is truly and irreparably broken because of the husband being an unfaithful asshole but the stupid uneducated saas and super righteous insanely pretty (read unnecessarily made up) choti bahu decide to do all it takes to save the marriage and the wife in question is inevitably this unbelievably flawless and self pitying goody two shoes who can't imagine for a second that there can be an amazing life without said asshole husband. OH and also INEVITABLY the chick the asshole is seeing is a 2 pence career mad hoe who denies she has anything to do with him to the world and pretends she's single to climb the corporate ladder, doing everyone she tells herself she has to to get to the top. Yes, this really pisses me off, tha...
